National Recovery Awareness Month- Wear yellow t-shirts/colors and do an activity to promote awareness such as posters, announcements, flyers, presentations, etc.  Send in a group (can be an edited picture to represent your group) or individual photo and brief description of the activity to the Virginia HOSA State Reporter, Makayla Runion  at makaylabr622@gmail.com. 9/9/20 or 9/10/20- Virginia HOSA Advisor Training and Updates.  To register for this workshop, click here

9:00 AM-12:00 AM- New Advisors

1:00 PM -4:00 PM- Veteran Advisors

 

An email will be sent to all advisors with a registration form or you can register using the above link. A Zoom link will be provided after the registration deadline (9/4/20). 3 hours of professional development will be issued after completion of updates. If you cannot attend your assigned time, feel free to join in the other session. 

 

9/11-9/30/20- National Day of Service and Remembrance Project- This is a time where HOSA members can honor 9/11 heroes and victims through service.  During this time, HOSA chapters and individual members are encouraged to carry out projects that will focus on activities such as food drives; emergency preparedness/disaster preparedness speakers and workshops; send cards to active military or veterans in military hospitals; create posters or bulletin boards addressing 9/11; hold celebration honoring veterans, soldiers, military families, Medical Reserve Corp, Red Cross and/or first responders.  

 

Chapters/Individual members need to send in a summary of your project along with a photograph and will be recognized during the virtual Fall Leadership Conference and State Leadership Conference to janebest@virginiahosa.org by October 15, 2020.  All chapters/individuals participating will be published in the Virginia HOSA Heartbeat newsletter.  

 

Washington Leadership Academy- This event will be transitioning to a virtual event for Fall 2020. More details will be available soon. This is available to all HOSA members (not just state officers). For more information, visit www.hosa.org

 

 

OCTOBER

Breast Cancer Awareness Month- Wear pink t-shirts/colors and do an activity to promote awareness such as posters, announcements, flyers, presentations, etc. Send in a group (can be an edited picture to represent your group) or individual photo and brief description of the activity to the Virginia HOSA State Reporter, Makayla Runion  at makaylabr622@gmail.com. 10/15/20- HOSA 100- Deadline for Registration.  This is only to receive the HOSA 100 Certificate.  This is not required for regular affiliation for membership.

11/15/20- Virginia HOSA State Leadership Conference information released

 

11/15/20- HOSA Day- Celebrate HOSA by bringing awareness about the association.  This is an opportunity to highlight alumni in your area who are working the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wear HOSA colors, announce HOSA Day on school announcements or webpages, record a blog, make a HOSA display, make signs promoting HOSA, recruit new members, write thank you notes to supporters of HOSA, recite the HOSA Creed or peruse the latest copy of the E-magazine.  Please provide a write up and email details to the Virginia HOSA State Reporter, Makayla Runion  at makaylabr622@gmail.com. Selected photos will be published on the Virginia HOSA website (www.virginia-hosa.org) as well as recognized at the Virginia HOSA State Leadership Conference. 

 

December

2/1/21- Deadline for Second Semester Affiliation (for members who did not affiliate in First Semester)

 

2/7/21- Deadline to register for 2020 Virginia HOSA SLC- www.hosa.org Determination of in-person or virtual SLC will be made in the fall.  

 

2/14/21- Deadline to make any changes to registration for SLC AND payment deadline- make all checks payable to PVCC- VA HOSA. Payment will depend on in-person versus virtual conference. 

2/15/21- Deadline for Virginia HOSA Scholarship Application (applications can be found on www.virginia-hosa.org under Virginia HOSA. 

 

March

Hunger Awareness Month- Wear orange t-shirts/colors and do an activity to promote awareness such as posters, announcements, flyers, presentations, etc.  Send in a group (can be an edited picture to represent your group) or individual photo and brief description of the activity to the Virginia HOSA State Reporter, Makayla Runion  at makaylabr622@gmail.com. If sent in by 3/8/20- recognized at 2021 SLC.  After that date, your chapter will be recognized on the Virginia HOSA website. 

 

3/6/21- Deadline to upload to TALLO for SLC competitive events

 

3/12/21-3/14/21- 41st  Annual Virginia HOSA State Leadership Conference, Williamsburg, DoubleTree by Hilton, 50 Kingsmill Road.  If the conference goest to a virtual platform, the dates would change to 3/9/21-3/11/21 and awards on 3/12/21.

 

3/15/21- Deadline to apply for National HOSA Scholarships (www.hosa.org)

 

April

4/5/21 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners at SLC- determine if attending ILC.  4th and 5th place will be eligible to attend ILC and compete if 1st, 2nd or 3rd place does not attend. ILC has not been determined if it will be in person or virtual.  Stay tuned!

5/8/21- Deadline to register for ILC. (This is based on current information- this may change.)  Send payments and code of conduct/medical liabilities to Virginia HOSA State Advisor.  All code of conduct and medical liability forms must be emailed to janebest@virginiahosa.org. (No paper copies will be accepted)


June

6/23/21-6/26/21- HOSA International Leadership Conference- Disney Coronado Springs, Orlando, Florida.  Newly elected state officers are encourgated to attend. .
